David's first experience with Genealogy began with the TV Series "Roots" in 1977 which inspired him as a sixteen year old teenager to visit the Bloomfield Twp Library where he discovered an old Oakland County Biographical book which had a portrait on his pioneer ancestor Charles Callow which is his great great grandfather. It was at this moment that he was "hooked" on genealogy and wanted to learn more about his family history and heritage. Since that time, he has been able to document all of his family lines going back to the early 1600's and early 1800's with one line going all the way back to the year 1263 A.D. without a generation missing!
David has been a historical speaker at the Cranbrook Institute of Science Auditorium in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan with his powerpoint/slideshow presentation "Native American Lore of the Detroit Area, 1701-1842". He has also done interviews with the Detroit News regarding early Michigan Pioneers for Michigan's 150th Anniversary in 1987.
Many of his lectures and talks deal with "Great Lakes Area History" and are perfect for "Men's and Women's Groups", Senior Centers, Libraries, Schools, Historical Societies and other's.
David is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, Genealogical Speakers Guild, Oakland County Genealogical Society, Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society, Greater West Bloomfield Historical Society as well as the Bloomfield Historical Society.
